BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Freshman, Adugna Moritz led the Rams cross country team this season with championships at the JCC Fall Classic (16:28.9), and the DeWitt Invite (15:51.5). At the regional finals Moritz placed 7th with a time of 16:15.1, sending him to the state finals where he placed 34th in the state and recorded the best time amongst the freshman class, with a 16:08.2. Moritz placed in the top 8 at the Bath Invite (16:19.9, 8th), Spartan Invite (16.26.3, 4th), CAAC Jamboree (16:08.5, 3rd), Greater Lansing XC Championships (15:54.1, 2nd), and the Fowler Invite (15:55.4, 2nd).
Alex Penski was also named to the Dream Team after finishing 8th at the regionals with a time of 16:16.4, and finishing 63rd in the state with a time of 16:21.8, 13th amongst sophomores. Penski raced to many top 10 finishes, such as the JCC Fall Classic (16:29.1, 2nd), Bath Invite (16:18.7, 7th), Spartan Invite (16:31.9, 8th), CAAC Jamboree (16:08.8, 4th), Greater Lansing XC Championships (16:12.7, 6th), DeWitt Invite (16:17.5, 3rd), and the Fowler Invite (16:04.5, 3rd).
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
The freshman led the girls cross country team all year with some of the best times in the state. Grasse finished 3rd at the regional finals with a time of 18:50.0, good enough to send her to the MHSAA state finals where she would finish 45th out of 245 runners, and 7th out of the 55 freshman running. Grasse would take home an individual championship at the JCC Fall Classic (19:27.1), and top 10 finishes at the Bath Invite (19:06.7, 8th), CAAC Jamboree (19:34.3, 4th), Greater Lansing XC Championships (18:37.0, 5th of 247), and the DeWitt Invite (19:00.2, 6th).
Sebastian finished with a 21-11 overall record playing 1 singles for the Rams this season. In addition to being on the LSJ Dream Team, Collazos is a finalist for LSJ player of the year, and also received All-State honorable mention honors. Collazos was crowned champion of the Grand Blanc Invite, Holt Invite I, Traverse City Central Invite, and runner-up in the CAAC, Brighton Invite, and Holt Invite II. Collazos helped the Rams win its first regional championship since 1973, and tie for the CAAC Blue with Okemos.
Joe Corner & Carlos Collazos
The 1 doubles duo finished with the best record in Holt tennis history, of 30-5 overall. With the 30 wins this season Joe Corner became the winngest player in Holt High School history, with a 80 career wins, and is a Dream Teamer for the 2nd consecutive year. The 1 doubles team also received All-State honorable mention honors. Corner and Collazos helped lead the Rams to its first regional championship since 1973, after they defeated Traverse City Central, 6-0, 7-5 in the regional final. In the state finals the Rams went in ranked for the first time in school history, No. 10 in the state, where they defeated West Bloomfield 6-1, 6-1 in the first round, and fell in a hard fought match to Troy, 3-6, 0-6. Corner and Collazos would finish as champions of the Jenison Invite, Grand Blanc Invite, Brighton Invite, Holt Invite I, and finished runner-up in the CAAC, Grandville Invite, Holt Invite II, and Traverse City Central Invite.
